HULAPUNK (Honolulu/Hamburg)
Johnny Rotten wütet im Bastrock. Sid Vicious randaliert mit Blumenkette. Joe Strummer rockt mit Ukulele. Und Hulapunk? Abgesehen davon, daß die obigen Herren das Zeitliche gesegnet haben, klingt das unvorstellbar. Seit Hulapunk wissen wir, daß es funktioniert. Ziemlich gut sogar. Punksongs mit Hawaiihemd, Blumenkette, Ukulele und der Hawaiigitarre. Südseeflair trifft auf ungezügelte Energie, gepaart mit bitterschwarzem "Monty Python" Humor. Eine enthemmte Mischung, die selbst dem manisch depressivstem Griesgram eine Lachfalte ins Gesicht tackert.
Vielleicht kommt ja dieses Jahr auch noch die lang angekündigte und lang ersehnte Tour DVD heraus.

The investigators and inventors of Hulapunk, called Hulapunk are permamanently "on the road". Armed with a Ukulele, Lap steel guitar, a bass and a pair of bongos they have already hit Europe in a hard way. These Roaddogs have entered Germany, Holland and UK. The US follows this year. Everybodys invited to join the on their crusade to insanity. Or is it just a comic strip...A tale? Who knows. Who cares!

The Situations tourten bereits durch Australien mit The White Stripes und kamen im Dezember nach Europa. Die Jungs rockten mit ihrer Power und ihren mitreissenden Melodien alles in Grund und Boden. Publikum und Veranstalter waren schlichtweg begeistert. Einfach Wahnsinn diese 4 jungen Kiwis mit "Feuer im Arsch". Auch am Ende der Welt wird tolle Musik gemacht.
Im Februar kommt eine 7" Vinyl Single auf dem Spanischen Kultlabel Munster Records heraus. Ein "Full-length Album" kommt auch im Spätsommer auf selbigem und die Europa-Tournee kommt im Herbst 2010.

Samuel, one year younger sings the songs he writes, hot and cold romance, hookups and putdowns.
Stu, older brother by 18 months, sings what the other two tell him.

The Situations toured in Australia with the White Stripes.The band is coming to tour Europe in fall 2010. They bring their new release on Munster Records / Cargo. An amazing wild and crazy 60s garage amalgam of The Fall, Velvet Underground, White Stripes and Bo Diddley.

PAINTED AIR (Hamburg/St. Pauli)
Green Cookie Records / CARGO
Gegründet 1990 auf Hamburg-St.Pauli, begann die Gruppe
um Sänger Martin Klingberg als typische Sechziger-Jahre-Garage-Punk-Band. Nach
Ausflügen in Richtung Psychedelic und Krautrock entwickelte PAINTED AIR bald
ihre ganz eigenen fuzzgeladenen und orgelbetonten Sound.
Aktuell ist ihre CD "Come on 69" auf dem griechischen Green Cookie Label erschienen. Zum Klaus Störtebeker Kinofilm "12 Meter ohne Kopf" steuerten die 5 einen Songbeitrag. Painted Air ist Jim Morrison und Iggy Pop bei ner Kneipenschlägerei aufm Kiez.
Wie eine wüste und
extrem unterhaltsame Schlägerei in einer schummrigen Hafenkneipe klingt die
Hamburger Band PAINTED AIR. Sänger Martin Klingberg und seine Bandkollegen
beschwören den psychedelischen Geist der Doors und leiben den ungebügelten
Garagen-Rock von Iggy Pop. Wer ihr Album >Come on '69< hört, der will
sich direkt ins Getümmel stürzen. Wenn eine Rockband so etwas bewirkt, hat sie
alles richtig gemacht.
